EFT
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT / Tapping) Calm your mind. Ease your body. Empower yourself.
Life can feel overwhelming, especially when emotions become intense, unpredictable, or hard to express. For those living with neurodiversity, anxiety, or stress, or who are simply looking for a practical self-help tool that truly makes a difference, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) offers a grounded and empowering way forward.
What is EFT?
EFT also known as tapping, is a therapeutic technique that combines gentle tapping on specific acupressure points with mindful attention to thoughts and emotions. It is sometimes described as “emotional acupuncture without needles.”
By physically tapping on calming points while acknowledging your emotional experience, you help your brain and body communicate safety, lowering stress hormones, reducing emotional charge, and allowing the nervous system to settle. This process supports emotional balance, clearer thinking, and improved wellbeing, and can be easily learned and used independently once taught.
Why EFT?
EFT can be especially powerful for people experiencing:
Anxiety, panic, or stress
Emotional overwhelm or shutdown
Difficulty with focus or self-regulation
Sensory sensitivity or burnout
Chronic pain or tension
Emotional eating or dysregulation around food
Emotional school avoidance or fear-based resistance to learning

EFT helps calm the fight-flight-freeze response and supports emotional regulation by engaging both body and mind. For many neurodivergent individuals, this body-based, self-paced method provides a way to self-soothe.
Research and focus areas
I am currently conducting research in ongoing research in:

Emotional dysregulation and food, exploring how stress and self-soothing patterns influence eating behaviours.
Emotional school avoidance, supporting young people whose nervous systems associate education with anxiety or overwhelm.
Chronic pain and stress response, understanding the emotional components that maintain physical discomfort and using EFT to gently shift them.
This integrative perspective helps tailor sessions to individual needs, meeting each person where they are emotionally, cognitively, and physically.

Professional background I am a qualified EFT practitioner and am currently completing the additional requirements to become accredited with EFT International (EFTi), the globally recognised professional body for Emotional Freedom Technique practitioners. This ongoing professional development ensures that my work remains evidence-informed, ethical, and aligned with the highest standards of care and practice.
